Poly Lactide[PLA],是一种新的多用途可堆肥的高分子聚合物,是由百分之百可再生资源玉米、木薯提取出的淀粉,甘蔗和甜菜提取的糖和秸秆等提取的纤维素, 或稻殻、豆荚等经过发酵、脱水等过程获得乳酸所制成。

Poly Lactide[PLA]是一种新的多用途可堆肥的高分子聚合物,是由百分之百可再生资源玉米、木薯提取出的淀粉,甘蔗和甜菜提取的糖和秸秆等提取的纤维素,或稻殻、豆荚等经过发酵、脱水等过程获得乳酸所制成,而非倚赖有限的石油资源,因此具有永续发展的特点。 PLA可在土壤中可被微生物分解成二氧化碳和水,没有环境污染。 未来PLA将逐渐取代性质相近之塑胶如PET、PS成为最有前途的聚合物。 PLA常温下不会分解, 置在堆肥环境约半年至一年,生物分解成空气与水,再通过太阳光合作用,变成淀粉,是真正对地球无公害的材质,对环璄及人体无毒无害无负担。
PLA, 聚乳酸已经广泛应用在生物医学工程上,用作手术缝合线、骨钉和骨板等。使用 PLA 聚乳酸做的手术线无需拆线,可以缓慢水解为乳酸被身体代谢掉,一般的降解时间需要半年到两年。
PLA 聚乳酸的应用现在已经超出医学的范围,广泛应用於一些常见的物品,如:包装袋、农作物用薄膜、纺织纤维和餐具。PLA塑胶与传统塑胶最大差异点,在於PLA塑胶品可被微生物完全分解成植物生长所需的二氧化碳与水,对环境极为友善,其「天然」、「无毒」、「环保」、「永续」等四大特性,符合「取之於自然,回归於自然」的资源生命循环哲理。

In order to make it environmentally friendly and sustainable,Polylactide is biodegradable which decays as a result of exposure to the sunlight and oxygen and then decomposes forming carbon dioxide and water, PLA was extracted, fermenting and polymerizing, which present no danger to the environment.
